Location: Off East 14th, you'll see the big Angry Fish sign with the big fish that reminds me of angry bird. If you're not use to the area I could see how people think the area is sketch? But regardless there is a parking lot in the back but is usually full because the building is shared with some sort of group meeting building right behind it. Customer Service: We came and it was empty, we used the prixe fixed meal groupon deal (BTW! since they weren't busy they honored the groupon deal but I didn't read the fine print which said you have to make a reservation prior to be able to use it, luckily the waitress said it was ok since the restaurant was empty) It was empty but within 20 minutes the place was PACKED, so maybe I suggest you should make a reservation on some nights or just come early? Decor: I instantly liked the sushi bar area and the massive collection of different sake bottles on the wall, nice touch! Also above the little booth where you walk up to; to either pay, tell them how many ppl are in your party, etc there is a lit up sign that says their specials. Which I thought was cool because as you walk in that will be one of the first things that catches your eye because of the neon lights. They have specials every day such as "#WCW which is women crush Wednesdays" and they give free ice cream to the ladies or.. "Thirsty Thursdays" which has sake bomb specials. Presentation of Food: Sushi on a plate nothing crazy except for the flaming sushi that came out with the groupon deal! WHOA! Cool, nice presentation and for people coming here for the first time I can see why this would be included as part of the groupon deal it does give that "WOW" factor. How did the food taste?: We had the 5 course meal via groupon 1. Miso soup - How can you go wrong with this right? So just like any other Japanese restaurants it tasted like all miso soups. 2. A big plate of salad which was actually good, crisp lettuce with a tasty dressing 3. 4 piece sashimi appetizer 4. Two specialty rolls which they picked: Titanic Roll and the Flaming something (the one that came out with the plate flaming up around the sushi). The titanic was good but the second roll was way too salty. 5. Green Tea or Mango Ice Cream. (Yum!) Overall Experience: I think I need to come back and try more stuff. Would I Come Back?: Yes! Because I feel like this place has potential in my book and I just need to come for a Round 2!

There's a few sushi restaurants in the east bay that I actually like and it's probably because they're all alike--Angry Fish Sushi is the exception. I wasn't expecting the uni to taste so fresh and the maguro tuna was surprisingly delicious as a tataki dish! Although they didn't have lemons today, the limes and the service made up for it. My food came out at a reasonable time and my waiter was extremely attentive. My beer was ice cold and my saki was perfectly warmed. I will definitely visit this sushi restaurant again and next time I'm bringing friends! The added bonus would be that this place offers delivery (food and beer)! I had a great first experience at Angry Fish and I am sure you will too!

For the price and the sushi this place is great. Nothing really impressive on the dessert front or appetizers. I come here often and will continue to do so. I really hope they can create some fun drinks and desserts just to make me happy :-)

Where do I start with this place! OMG I think I'm in love! First and foremost, thank you to Groupon for the lovely deal that landed me here. I bought a groupon that I had to use before Feb 28th so I can that last Saturday around 7pm. Groupon deal was: $26 for a prix-fixe Japanese dinner for two or more ($39.30 value) Two miso soups (a $1.25 value each) Two green salads (a $1.50 value each) One sashimi appetizer (a $8.95 value) One lion king roll (a $7.95 value) One titanic roll (an $11.95 value) One slice of green tea cheesecake (a $4.95 value) Parking: 3/5. Was a little tough. There are a couple parks in the front of the restaurant but in the back there are a couple more, so don't be to alarmed. Atmosphere: 5\5. Was great. It was a little smaller then I thought and since I am not a quiet person I wanted a seat in the back near the small bathroom so no one else was disturbed by me talking and chatting. Customer service: 5\5. Was amazing!! Food came out quickly and the ladies were so proficient at checking in and making sure that we were pleased with our meal. Menu options: 5\5. I wanted to test and try everything on the menu especially after looking at their prices! They are so reasonable, who would have ever thought! Food:5\5. It was so delicious! Yummy, honestly Im still thinking about it as I write this review! HAHA. Everything was so fresh. My favorite was the Japanese Spring Rolls and the tasty sweet sauce that they put on the side. The sweet sauce that they use is the same sauce that they put on the salad as the dressing, its truly delicious! I cant wait to come here again! I get excited just thinking about my first time!

Service was shotty. We ordered four rolls and only three came out. Then after we finished the three we requested to stop the order on the fourth and even the sashimi combo because we were well done with our meal and there was no sign of anything else on the way. We drenched everything in soy sauce because the flavors and fish were so bland. Seated in the corner, it was hard to get anyone to refill our water or to check if our food came out. Comparable to grocery store packaged sushi rolls at the deli counter.

Angry Fish is a hidden gem in San Leandro. I was tempted to not even yelp review it in case everyone found out, but I'll share the joy. The selling points of this place is good quality, big portions, and very good prices. The lunch prices are more than just good, they're the best I've seen around the Bay Area. Think of $7 for a large bento with Tempura, california rolls, chicken teriyaki, and salad, and miso soup which I could barely finish. I would compare this place to Geta Sushi which is the most popular sushi place in Oakland and has really good prices. But I only use this as a comparison to say that Angry Sushi has equal prices and larger portions. Plus there's also plenty of seating for large groups so I'm saying goodbye to Geta for now. From what I've experienced, you can't go wrong ordering anything here. The special sushi roll menu is the way to go.

Angry Fish is awesome! I just moved to San Leandro and am really happy this restaurant is in my neighborhood. I love sushi, but don't love the prices some sushi restaurants charge. Angry Fish is delicious and they charge very reasonable prices for good sized portions, Not to mention, they DELIVER! Haven't found many sushi places that deliver so that's a huge bonus, plus they deliver for FREE if you are within 1.5 miles (which I am). I've eaten here for both dine-in and delivery and the food has been great each time. I really like the Angry Fish roll, which is a shrimp tempura roll with their spicy Angry Fish sauce. I also like the Spicy Avo-Salmon roll and the Fairytale roll (salmon, avocado, scallop, tobiko, mayo, and spicy sauce). My boyfriend really likes the Rib-Eye Steak teriyaki, which I've tried and its always tender and flavorful. He's a big eater and the portions fill him up so that says something. I usually order 2 rolls and end up having leftovers. I brought my family here last night and they couldn't believe the portion-to-price ratio and were very impressed with the quality given that the prices are so reasonable. The restaurant itself is really cute, clean, and well-decorated. Service is friendly and food comes out fast. My only issue is that delivery sometimes isn't the quickest. The first time we did delivery, it took an hour and half for our food to come. They explained they were really busy and kept us updated, but it sucks when you're hungry and you are told 45-60 mins then it ends up being 90 mins...I've worked in the restaurant business and understand things get busy and backed up, plus I really appreciate that they deliver at all so its not the biggest deal. However I do keep in mind that if I want delivery I should order as early as possible because it may be a minute before the food arrives. Overall Angry Fish is GREAT and if you're looking for tasty, affordable Japanese food in San Leandro, this is the place!

Yum. To be continued when I reach a keyboard to express the luxurious fresh flavors in better detail.

We came here with friends who enjoy eating here and bought groupons to try it out with them. However, due to the fine print, we were not able to use one of the groupons as it is one groupon per table per visit. Groupon also indicated that we need to text in our reservation. Nonetheless, in looking at the menu, the prices are pretty reasonable for the portions you get. So we used one groupon to get salad, miso soup, one sashimi appetizer, and two rolls, called (flaming) King of Jungle and Titanic roll. Dessert was two small scoops of ice cream which we picked mango and green tea. We also ordered plain curry and chicken teriyaki and both were delicious and plentiful. I thought the rolls were ok and next time I would like to order the dinner combo to try the food. Be sure you text your reservation as the place is rather small.

I loved the sushi there and they had good service. The waiters and waitresses are very kind. New York Roll and Fairytale are a must-have. Th Mochi ice cream was pretty, but the outer part was hard.

So we meet again... This time I will commend the owner. I don't know if it was the food I ordered, but it was surprisingly better, in a way I craved more.. This time I came at the beginning of dinner and NOT an hour and half before lunch hour ended. Food *5/5 Clean 4/5 Visual 4/5 Service *5/5 Decor 3/5 Cost *3/5 (dinner menu) *changed value Saba shioyaki, wasn't the best I had but was pretty close and was tasty but a little dry inside. 10pc sashimi combo($13), I would have to say is top 5 for me, although one of the three slices of maguro had one too many veins (just my luck). The titanic roll ($13)was also good since the fish was REALLY fresh! The fish was like butter, texture-wise AND melted in your mouth and THAT is what fresh grade A fish should taste like. I ate the whole dish with no shoyu or wasabi because the freshness was that good. Unlike last time there was a sufficient amount of rice on the roll. I can't complain about the service this time, maybe because there was two people on the floor vs one and it was dinner time vs lunch. Water and tea never made the bottom of my glass since they always topped it off and this time a greeting out the door, now that's the customer service that was missing last visit. You guys addressed all my complaints, 5star! Keep it up!

I am from Seattle, and visit San Leandro on occasion. I make it a point to eat at Angry Fish each time I fly down. It is awesome. Highly recommend it, It is a small place, and in a location maybe some might pass by at first look, but that would be a mistake. I sit at the bar, and try different things -- they seem to create all kinds of good rolls and come up with cool names. They deliver, so I see the chefs making a lot of to-go orders -- that ought to tell you what the locals think. What I see is a consistently great product, with great presentation, and fresh fish. Down side is they don't get a chance to talk a whole lot, but I go for the food. I just wish they'd get a little bigger place!

This is my spot! So close to my house and I order take out fairly often. I haven't had a chance to eat in as much as I like but it is a cute dining place on the cozy side. I love the 49er roll and salmon sashimi is what I come to stuff myself with. They gave me one time as a bonus for ordering a new roll sauteed edamame and it was soooo goood. I think the special roll I had had shrimp tempura on top of a California roll that was amazing as well. Everything that I have had has been great and it is such a gem to have in the neighborhood.

This is my family's favorite sushi restaurant in San Leandro! There are many places closer to our home. We visit Angry Fish almost on a weekly basis. The staff is very friendly, it feels like walking into a friend's home for dinner and the food is fresh and tasty!

    (5)
  • Sarah C.

The food here is good, I had California rolls, and tempura, and both tasted very good and fresh. Their prices are great! It's a little small and cramped inside but the staff is attentive and friendly.

Who woulda thunk that a sushi restaurant that shares the building w/ AA would serve decent sushi? Not overly priced and pretty fresh! Casual decor but that's ok if the sushi is good.

Decent prices. Sushi is pretty small so u get what u pay for. Very small place. Seating is little up tight

Great Sushi at an extremely affordable price. I've been there a couple times and I'm shocked every time the bill comes out at how cheap it is. Very friendly staff and a great upscale vibe!

Its a cozy little place for sushi. My bf and I were hungry and we were in the east bay and we drove by this place and decided to give this place a try! I ordered the bento box with chicken and ordered the anger management roll.. and it was definitely pretty good. My bf ordered a bento box as well and ordered a dragon roll. We couldn't go too crazy with the rolls since we were on a time crunch to get back into the city.

I never been to a Japanese restaurant with Chinese owners, but first time is always a plus. Yeah I was laughing at the name because the mascot and name was a knockoff from Angry Birds. The parking lot was very small and tight. What I liked was the clam soup, beef and pork cutlet, but they gave us too much rice. I liked the salad too, it was great. The chicken was okay, a little dried though and not too crispy. The raw oysters was okay, but needed the sauce :) The sushi is different than most, it had the lime flavor which made me get used to the taste which unfortunately I tasted more of the the lime than the fish. But I like the lemon flavor better. The prices are not too bad though, we ended up spending $82.00 at the end of the night.

Went here today to place a order to go around 11:40 am. Came in and took about five minutes for someone to come and help me. That is my only tiny gripe. Other then that the woman taking my order was very helpful. She recommended 2 delicious rolls and was very friendly. Got gyoza which was good. Spicy salmon which was also good. The fairytale roll however was amazing. Cant wait to come back and have a real sit down meal.

This is my local sushi spot! Anytime you want fresh sushi where you dont get charged a arm and a leg, angry fish is the place! I came here and ordered a variety of sushi rolls and sashimi. The fish literally melts in your mouth. You can tell the fish is fresh and the service was great. We also ordered a variety of beer and sake that I haven't seen at other sushi restaurants. I would highly recommend trying this place. I suggest making reservations because some nights can be pretty packed.

In my honest opinion, best sushi in the city of San Leandro. I stopped by out of curiosity with my girl friend (she lives in San leandro) and boy was I in for a treat! The rolls here are quite unique in a way that it satisfies both my taste and my eyes; which are looking right at them. What started out as a quick meal quickly escalated into a fun night of fresh bites and flavorful sake for my girlfriend and I. If you are in the area *MUST TRY* the fish here are really fresh and the price makes it a steal! Service itself was exceptional but the rolls makes me wana come back.

Everything was awesome. Super crowded and noisy on a Saturday, but in my mind that is to be expected. Food was quick and delicious. And soooooooooooooooo reasonbly priced. I do believe I've found my regular sushi place.

If I was rating this place based on sushi alone, I would probably give it 3 or 3.5 stars. After factoring in the amazing service and the convenience for a weekday dinner (because we live in San Leandro), I bumped it up to 4 stars. The two of us ordered the hamachi kama, sashimi dinner, baked scallop roll, 49er roll, and angry fish roll. The hamachi kama was good, but I was not blown away by the sauce. I was a bit disappointed because I typically consider the hamachi kama sauce to be one of the highlights for the dish. The sashimi dinner was okay - it was decent enough but not amazing. The rolls were smaller than rolls from other restaurants, but they were cheaper too. I thought they were the perfect size because it allowed us to try one more roll than we would have ordered at a different restaurant. Another reviewer mentioned that there wasn't a whole lot of variety for the rolls because most of them seem to use a California roll as a base. Without having the menu in front of me at the moment, I would have to agree that I left with the same impression. In all, this is a good local option for us. It's not our favorite place in the East Bay, but we liked it enough to go back. Also, the service was great!

  • Stephanie C.

This is one of the better quality sushi restaurant in the area. While their service is nice, it's also slow. They seem to be understaffed every time I come here, with only one waiter/waitress. Direct parking can be hard to find at times, but one can easily find street parking around the area. The prices are decent and typical of a sushi restaurant around the area. A much preferable place to come to compared to Fat Fish, which is just down the street.

Found my new sushi roll spot! Love the prices and quality of food. Customer service is great despite the dinner rush. Love when menus have pictures! Had the lion king roll! Love when the rolls have real crab! And the salmon was cooked perfectly! And very flavorful!

  • S P.

Fast service Great service Low price for the quality of food Good fish (on the small side though) Nigiri & sashimi are better than the rolls Ask what's freshest & get it Excellent desserts (one of the few that do fried ice cream correctly) I will be going back Enjoy - perfect place if you want nice sushi and in a hurry

I am so glad that this awesome sushi restaurant opened so close to our home!!!!! The sashimi is very fresh and all the rolls are delicious! The owner/head chef is very friendly and always recommends great new dishes for us! My favorite so far is the Fairytale roll!! This is definitely going to be the new sushi go to place for my and my husband!

  • Tina N.

I ate here for the first time with my friends. The customer service was horrible n servers rude as fuck. The sushi smelled totally fishy n not fresh like other places I've been to. Food came fast but with a bad presentation. There were sand on the oysters that we ordered bc they didn't do a thorogh job cleaning n washing them. That same night, i had severe diarrhea n food poisoning. Should have gone to hospital for symptoms n last 2 days of throwing up too. I would definitely not recommend people coming to this place at all...

Tried it tonight. Big plus for accommodating a party of 8 at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday through reservations. Service was pretty fast after we order, another huge plus if you have small hungry kids. Ordered a combo bento chicken teri/tempura, lion king and sunshine roll. Chicken was tasty and good portion. Tempura was also prepared well and good portion. Lion king was okay, my sons love Lion King at sushi house. They ate it but not as much as the SH version. The winner was the Sunshine roll. I actually saw a review about the torched salmon on top. Really good smoky flavor and tasty roll. Looks like it could get crowded at times, but they made it work. Tricky parking lot, I moved my car to the street because I didn't want to be blocked in. There's some hall or something behind the restaurant, probably don't want to hang around there after dinner. Probably one of the better SL sushi spots.

  • Lanie S.

3.5 stars for me...the sushi we ordered was the angry fish: tempura shrimp inside for around $6+ ok...not too impressed. Baked scallop roll..ok. Sashimi roll was delicious and on a beautiful plate made with rice paper...only roll with large portion...the rest or the rolls were very small...also not wrapped too tightly so it fell apart easily. The sashimi salad was amazing. All in all good experience wait staff was attentive and beautiful on the inside..modern looking with black tables...restaurant is small but nice...free dessert tonight so...yummy...worth a try..will recommend..however some of the rolls are a bit small portion wise...

I had my fair share of sushi places, so I thought I'll give this place a try base on the photographs of their food, proximity to my home, and I wanted to try some place different other than Todomachi Sushi Bistro. Nothing to rave about this place, just your typical Japanese restaurant that is run and own by Chinese. Nothing's wrong with that it's just that I rather have someone who actually had the real training to prepare that food instead of someone who pick it up while assisting at another place so they thought they would venture out. Good sushi and sashimi should melt in your mouth...I didn't get that feeling here. The food was appealing to the eyes but not to the palette. They got 3 stars because of the nice customer services and somewhat nice decor at the sushi bar area. It was kind of loud in there since it was small. I had the fried banana w/ green tea ice cream for desert but the banana had NO flavor what so ever. There were a few other items I wanted to try -- abalone, spicy scallops, but I guessed not. I rather save the money and head to Sushi Ran in Sausalito, Morimoto in Napa, Ino Sushi in SF to name a few within reach in the Bay Area, since I can't just be in Japan for a while.

Delicious food, very nice staff, excellent prices. Had the steak bento box and the baked salmon roll. Their attention to detail is awesome--everything on the plate was so good, well presented, and of excellent quality. Love the ginger salad dressing, always my weakness.

  • Earle S.

This place is decent if your craving basic sushi. I ordered spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls. figured stay safe until I can really understand how the food is you know? The order arrived promptly and the staff were super friendly, pair that with the decent pricing and close location and you have a WIN. The only downside worth mentioning is that their sushi rolls were really loose. It was late so maybe the sushi bots were tired :-) every piece we picked up sorta fell apart which was disappointing since the overall presentation was impressive.

I received a call from the manager, Connie... We were able to discuss the problem and she was able to make the situation better. I appreciated the effort made on their part. My Mother's Day dinner was delivered by the owner himself... The food was great but what made it even better was the fact that the business cared enough to fix the situation of a dissatisfied customer. As other yelpers have said, Angry Fish has great food and amazing customer service.

Amazing sushi, couldn't have tasted more fresh unless it jumped in my mouth. I always get a Rainbow Roll it how I grade the sushi place and this place was choice. The prices are great, sushi very tasty, and a great assortment of tempura. Definitely will come back when I am in the area. Between here and Sushiland down the street San Leandro is the place to get affordable and great tasting sushi.

I went for the first time here and I ordered two bento box with chicken teriyaki . It came with the soup, salad, rice and California roll. I must say that it was nice and good, what I really likes was the chicken and salad, the salad has a nice dressing that makes it unique and not boring as others. Then I ordered a dragon, lion king and angry fish roll, and they were excellent!!!! I must say that this place is a must try! And the price is good too and good customer service! Good food good sushi

Been here a few times and it never dissapoints. The 49er roll is a personal favorite. Great service and food, not much else you need.

    (5)
  • Katie R.

Good prices and the 49er roll is awesome! I am extremely impressed with their quality. I have only ordered takeout from here and they are very nice on the phone. The parking is utter bullshit. there are four spots out front and additional parking in the back. there are always groups of people just standing around in the back and are not fond of logical parking when no spaces are provided.

  • T. K.

I really enjoyed eating at this restaurant! The service was very attentive and friendly. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were large as well. We ordered a rainbow roll, fairytale roll, and titanic roll. They were all very tasty and not overly spicy. I also had tempura soba which came with a large portion of soba as well as a full order of vegetable tempura. I didnt expect so much food and it was all very delicious!

Tried this place today for lunch, ordered the lion king, kappa, spicy tuna, & 49er the rolls were a good size, the taste/ fressness was a-ok, crab was a bit on the sweet side to me. good service we got our rolls pretty fast. wouldn't be my first choice in choosing a sushi restaurant but ill go back if im in the area.

  • Sean F.

My roommate went here for dinner tonight and was nice enough to bring some home for me to try. He brought back a Rainbow Roll and Chiraschi, which is mixed sashimi over a bed of rice. Gotta say, fresh fish and presentation, even the take out! If you enjoy sushi, or, if you have yet to try some good raw fish, you won't be disappointed with Angry Fish.

  • Tikisha O.

This is the best sushi spot in san leandro but that isnt saying too much...Ordered large sashimi salad togo. Opened box and saw 6 tiny sad mangled pieces of fish on top of a bed of lettuce soaked in vinegar and oil? For $11? Geta sushi PLEASE open up a spot in the dro. We need it!

Was looking forward to trying this place after reading the good reviews but I was utterly disappointed. My fiancé and I came in on a Tuesday evening to a pretty much empty restaurant and the first thing that slapped us in the face as we walked in was how extremely stuffy and hot the inside was. It was 75 degrees outside and probably 90 degrees inside. Oh well, its too late to turn back now... The hostess and sushi bar did not know how to greet or seat us and basically told us to sit anywhere we want. When we decided on what we wanted to order, they were out of uni...another sign we should've left right then and there, but hey we still had hope. The servers attitude was very dry and didn't know what the type of sashimi was in the 10 pc we ordered and didn't want to walk the 2 feet to the sushi bar and ask. Instead told us its "probably" the usual and that we were not allowed to choose at all. Then we found out they were all out of clams so at that point we were not interested in ordering anything else off the menu. Sashimi was not fresh at all, Snow White Roll was not a good combo, Lobster Roll was basically a California roll sub the crab meat with canned lobster, Ikura was extremely salty. The only thing that made me give them an extra star were the raw oysters which were pretty fresh. Overall, I have had much much much better Japanese food compared to here, and the customer service needs a lot of work. I will never come back here again nor will I recommend it to anyone.

This is my favorite sushi place! You can tell that the fish is fresh and it always tastes good. I live nearby so I come here at least once every two weeks. There is great atmosphere and plenty of variety in the menu. The one downside is that service can occasionally be a bit slow, but the food comes out pretty quickly. My favorites are the Spider Roll and Anger Management.

I found this place on yelp and saw they delivered I made a order got my sushi in about 40 minutes it was awesome. Next time I decide to make a phone in to go order which they said would be ready in about 20 mins. I get there 30 mins later and the hostess says it will be about 15 mins. I sat and waited 45 mins before I get my order finally. Today I called at 730 for a delivery the eta is 45-1 hr I call to check on my order at 901 and they don't answer call them for over 20 mins with no answer. I finally call from my work number at 929 and they finally answr saying that the driver is near by. I tell them to reverse my charges cuz now I had to start cooking dinner Shawn who answered the phone said he'd call right back. A few mins later the driver finally calls saying he's outside. I refused the order and I will never ever patronize this un professional establishment again. If you feel like waiting forever for your sushi which I will say is good this place is great.

Great service! We were in a rush to make a movie and called them on our way there. They took our order over the phone, had it ready for us when we got there and we were in and out in half an hour. Food was great, staff was great - we'd definitely eat there again.

Heard that this place is good from friends and decided to check it out, but wasn't impressed. Maybe it was an off day but the fish and the fresh oysters weren't fresh. The location is sketchy and the motorcycle gang in the rear parking lot makes me a little uneasy, but the inside of the restaurant was fine. Also there were some guys drinking OldE from a can and smoking some MJ on the bench outside the front door but they never came in to eat. I like that they had different variations on the rolls compared to the other places, but overall it was just average, actually lower than average since it tore me up. Kind of reminds me of Ray's sushi in Hayward (Quantity over Quality), with better decor and much better music.

Food is good but when you order to go , it takes for ever to be ready , lady say 20 mins but its more like 40 mins , please dont ever say 20 mins if its not gonna take 20 mins .... garbage

Entered the Angry Fish Sushi and left very happy (as always)... Since my last rating back in January, I kept returning and left totally happy and satisfied. Today, we came for lunch (I needed to get out after suffering from cabin fever). OMG, I had the large sashimi salad and the angry sushi bomb. My mother enjoyed the California rolls and she sampled the sashimi and the bomb, which she enjoyed. Then we enjoyed the fresh oysters (OMG!!! So fresh!!!). The sauce was mild yet with a little bit of spice. I loved every bit of the food. It was a lot of food for the two of us, and we ended up taking the leftovers home. I, for one, don't like to take home leftover sushi because it doesn't taste the same. But, this place proved me wrong. It still taste great! The rice did not harden like sushi you buy like at a Costco and take out at other sushi places. The waitress this afternoon, has great energy! She waited on us previously but I want to give her a compliment. She's took care of us without standing over us (like a helicopter). I really appreciate her. I am totally spoiled by this place. I am looking forward to coming back again very soon!

This place is a little far from the highway. Decided to come here because of the high reviews and the fish looked really fresh in the pictures. To eat, we had the chirashi, 49ers roll and beef teriyaki bento. Fish is not fresh here, except the salmon. It was also cut weird. I have a feeling the sushi chefs are not trained. The charashi was tiny, but I guess it matches the price. The only thing I did like about this place was the how they use real crab meat in their 49ers roll. This place is only good for the bento boxes. Wouldn't come back here again for the fish.

I could taste that the fish was bad. Also I do not believe they used real crab but charged me for it.... NASTY, NASTY, NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this place. The sushi is great and they also do delivery too. Seals the deal right there. I always get the lion king and it always hits the spot. Sushi is inexpensive and taste delicious. The place is also nice and interesting. I love eating here!!!

Came here on a Friday night and it was surprisingly not too packed which was a good thing considering it was fairly small. It's one of those whole in the wall/don't judge a book by its cover type places. Parking is a little sketchy and the outside isn't very pleasing to the eye, but this place is definitely worth a try! The rolls are huge and the sashimi is extremely fresh and tasty, and the service was super fast and really friendly. Angry Bomb and 49er were our faves of the night, along with the super fresh Hamachi nigiri. Will definitely be coming back!

Finally revisited this place but this time with my sister. Quick funny story.. Ok so the parking lot kinda freaked my sister out since it looked sketchy and it's all the way in the back. Oh and the fact that there is like some kind of rehab meeting thing going on behind the restaurant. My sister was scared that they were going to break into her car. The worker had to reassure her it was fine to park back there LOL Oh and just FYI I did not come here for the free oysters. As you can see the owner responded to my past review and offered me an order of fresh oyster. But I didn't claim it because I wanted to see if there were any changes since my last visit. Anyways onto the actual review.. This time we ordered Amaebi Nigiri 3.5* Scallop Nigiri 4* Salmon Nigiri 3* =( CA Roll was meh... 3* Sunshine Roll was alright 3* I also attempted to ordered the Geoduck (giant long neck clam) but they didn't have it =( I guess if I ever revisit next time I really have to call ahead of time.

First time here for dinner and I must say we were impressed! We walked in and were seated right away. It was right before closing so we were the only ones in there. The place was cozy and ambiance perfect. Service was supurb! The fairytale and the anger management are must tries! We also had unagi and a bluefin which were both fresh and savory. Before leaving we made friends with most of employees there, they were very hospitable and we will definitely be back. Think this place blows Sushiland out the water..I think we found our new go to sushi spot! :)

The food was pretty good. We ordered the Avo Salmon, Avo Tuna, Lion King, and something the waiter suggested. The dish had spicy tuna but it was very little (the roll was like 1/4 the size of any other roll), it mainly consisted of rice. The imitation crab could use more mayonnaise, it didn't seem like it had any at all. Aside from that, it was quite tasty. Overall I am a fan of the food. The service was ok. The waiter that took our order was very attentive and one of the other ladies even made small talk. But the other waiter girl that was waiting on us, didn't seem too upbeat. I enjoyed the ambiance. Very modern and nicely designed. Although the neighborhood is a little sketchy, they seem to have a lot of parking nearby.

I wanted to try a new sushi place in the area last night so to Yelp I go. Pictures, reviews, and prices all seemed to check out so here we were. The parking is a little strange and the restaurant is located in a dingy part of town, but once inside, it felt clean and new. The staff was friendly and worked pretty quickly. We looked through the menu and decided on: Baked Scallop Roll - tasty but portion was pretty small Negi Hama Roll - also yummy but cut all funky and uneven Hamachi Kama - really delicious and came out piping hot with crispy skin Sashimi Combo - tasted fresh Overall, prices weren't bad but that came with pretty small portions. However, I enjoyed the food, the staff was nice, and the restaurant space was clean. I would return to try other items.

This is based upon their customer service as a first time customer via phone order. I would have liked to try their food, seeing as it looked delicious on Yelp. I called for sushi delivery, only to be placed on hold for five minutes. Someone then answered, and said "hello?" only to put the phone down again for another 10 minutes. When I tried to call back again, the line was busy and continued to be busy for the next hour, perhaps as a way to avoid more phone orders. I also attempted to order through various delivery websites, (e.g. grubhub, seamless) and found out that I was out of their delivery area even though I am in the same city. Please specify your delivery area, and do not neglect your customers! I would have gladly accepted the limited delivery area if they would just help me on the phone.

The ambiance of the restaurant is great. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box, and I was pleasantly surprised with the salad. They add Parmesan cheese to make it like a Caesar salad. Cons: I was disappointed they use imitation crab in their California roll. Also, the tempura was overly greasy. The staff is very attentive and friendly. It was ok for a quick lunch break, but I wouldn't return to eat there again.

My bf and I came here for dinner. Sat at the bar. Ordered the Poki salad, sunshine roll and another roll that the chef custom made for us. Everything was so delicious! At the end we also had the sashimi shooters. I was thinking they were gonna taste like the ones from Alexanders steakhouse... But uh nothing close! I couldn't eat it. I had to give mines to my Bf. He loved it.

Mom has been eyeing this restaurant for a while now, so we decided to give this place a try one afternoon. If it turned out to be great, we would have a favorite new Japanese restaurant in our neighborhood. We got there a little after the restaurant opened, so there were only two tables beside us. Mom ordered the Chirashi (as always), while I ordered two of their specialty rolls: Angry Bomb and Sunshine Roll. After a few minutes of waiting, the Chirashi arrived. While I can't testify for the quality of the cut, I can certainly say that it was small compared to other restaurants. So if you want a bigger serving of Chirashi, this would not be a good place to have it. Sunshine roll came next, which was pretty tasty. Then mom spotted some pictures while browsing yelp and came across the special order oyster. When asked the waitress said it was $5 a piece, so we only ordered two to try it out. The oyster was super small, with tiny piece of uni, a quail egg, some tobiko and ikura. It was a nice experience if you've never had this combination before, but for me I think all those ingredients became too overpowering, and I couldn't taste the sweetness from the uni nor the freshness from the oyster. It might be fun to have it as an oyster shooter, but with all the ingredients on an oyster shell with not much liquid to wash it down, it certainly was too much for me. As we finish everything on our table, we were still waiting for the Angry Bomb roll to make an appearance. After long painful moments of waiting around with nothing to eat, the waitress finally remembered and asked if we were still waiting on the sushi roll. With only three tables in the restaurant, I don't know how they could have forgotten how many orders were there. Anyway... the roll came, it had the same sauce as the Sunshine roll, which was tasty, but nothing to write home about. Plus all the waiting for a sushi roll had probably diminished my appetite and my appreciation for good food. In the end we left...semi happy, and semi hungry. Price is average for a Japanese restaurant, but so is size. So would I return again? Probably, when I have a serious craving for sushi and am tooooo lazy to drive 10 minutes to my favorite spot, otherwise... thanks, but no thanks.

Uh I don't know what happened here. I am almost in a way confused. The picture on yelp and the what I actually go really didnt match up. The service was okay, but my friend and I were almost like shocked when we got our food. Its just like as if the sashimi wasn't as perfectly cut as we imagined/what we saw on the yelp page.

Let me start off by saying if I could rate this place 10 stars I would! I am in love with the Lion King, Snow White, Spicy Mango and Angry Bomb rolls which I could easily devour BY MYSELF because it's that damn good! I also like the fact that sometimes they have Groupon deals so I can get more bang for my buck!

Fresh sushi and their super friendly quick service made this a 4 star experience. One of my rolls unfortunately had an overwhelming mayo flavor though. (I believe it was the 'bomb roll') Otherwise every other roll was pretty tasty, albeit a bit on the smaller side. The Caterpillar roll, which happened to be super cheap was my favorite (avocado...drool!). Their prices are pretty decent, more affordable than other sushi spots in San Leandro. (Even most of their special rolls are under 10$). I still like Rock N Roll sushi more but will certainly be back. The ambiance is very lovely here as well. Parking can be difficult, they only have 3 or 4 of their own spots in front and you sort of have to drive on the sidewalk to get to them. I could imagine with a large vehicle it may be difficult. There is street parking too, of course. Apparently they deliver which is always an amazing plus!

Angry fish is a good place since I work near by. I give them 4 stars only because i felt like the menu has a lot of repetition, the same rolls with maybe one slight difference but besides that its a good place to go. The atmosphere is really cool, I like the music they play and the cute employees lol. Definitely a go to spot.

Went here this past weekend after the Tough Mudder in patterson and wanted to use my groupon. Apparently you can't use it for sashimi which was rather annoying but my bad for not reading the fine print. The space and decorations is unique but otherwise food wise its nothing special. Menu is also pretty small too. Not that many rolls. We got the: seaweed salad - standard taste Green Salad - oddly this came with cheese which was a first so asked for it without cheese which they did replace Sashimi - its $13 for 10 pieces but the cuts are small though Unagi Sashimi - $5 for 2 pieces also standard My friend got the dragon roll which he said was pretty good. Wasn't super impressed with this place but gotta go back to use the groupon

I super love this place!!! Most everytime everything is perfect but I have discovered I only want Edmund making our sushi rolls. The other guys always adds some weird garnish that we don't like. Not so much a secret any longer!! Have 4 stars this time for our spicy shrimp creamy mixture for angry bomb not completely mixed up & the batter seemed old & was hard. Not hard from over frying but hard like stale. Only time that's ever happened. That won't keep me from going back. Love this place!!

Not worth it to come here this out of the way in San Leandro. Place looks like it is in someone's basement, especially with their screen door entrance, but service is at least fast. The sushi isn't the best I've ever had, but the bento box beef was pretty good. But definitely not justifiable to come here just for that.

Their sashimi and nigiri?!? I have been to awesome, expensive sushi places, and Angry Fish rivals those in that area, but at a great price. Fresh and yummy! Love good sushi!!! I am a repeat offender of this place. The employees remembered my name after ONE visit!

it's very tiny and made me feel claustrophobic. It was pretty crowded so I couldn't wait to get out, but the sushi is tasty but not as good as other sushi places in san leandro.

My roommate and I decided to order some sushi for dinner yesterday. We ordered the Lion King, the spider, and a dragon roll as well as a salad and some miso soup. This order was for delivery. We were told it would take 40 minute but in reality it took over 1 hour. When the food arrived the delivery gut didn't apologize until we said how late he was he stated he had many deliveries to do. The food was cold by the time it arrived. :( I would order again but at the venue not for delivery.

Ok, wow, so it was great last time but this time it was fabulous. So congrats Angry Fish. The owner is so friendly and wants to do everything possible to make your visit perfect. The *one* thing that bothered me about my last visit, the crunch and taste of the tempura, was totally different - the batter was crunchy, flavorful and perfect this time around! Also on this visit I only had sushi instead of a bento box and I was just really impressed by the quality and care put into it. Good amount of fish on the nigiri, very slightly warm, LIGHTLY packed rice, and on the underside of my hamachi was a oh so delicately applied brush of wasabi. Oh man. And I could probably go on and on about the other rolls, we tried a lot and they are all REALLY TASTY. Glad I went back, woulda been seriously missing out. Yum!!!

This is by far the best Sushi restaurant in 4 major states (California, New York, Nevada and Washington) I have tried the best but this special place is hidden from the world and needs to be recognized for its wonderful sushi chefs and it's exquisite cuisine. Everyone must come to try it. Maybe ask for something that's not on the menu. You may be surprised!!!

I was looking for a new sushi place near this area. There are some slim pickings, but after reading the reviews, I thought why not. I came here for a to go order celebrating my mom's bday. The sushi chef made me a custom sashimi platter which comprised of fresh selections. I'd recommend this place. I've gone back for sushi to go.

Biggest waste of my money! Very disappointed especially because I was so hungry when I ordered. Edamame was very hard, tasteless tempura roll, all I could taste was the rice. Lion King, had so much better! Green tea cheesecake size, ridiculous for the price. One star for good, fast service. Would definitely not order again!

My bf and I were first-timers here. We finally decided to try this place since we live close by. What we got: Spider roll - the roll was quite bland, it didn't taste like anything but (no idea how to describe it in words) smelly crab. The crab didn't taste fresh. No star for this roll! Salmon skin roll - this roll was very different than the ones we've had at other restaurants. My bf and I personally didn't like it (especially the minty flavor). This could be a yummy roll for other people but not for us. No star! Tempura dragon roll - I've always thought that you can't go wrong with dragon roll but I was wrong. The roll was bland and the sauce was a bit salty. No star for this one either. Although my bf and I were hungry, we had a hard time finishing those three rolls :( we can usually finish 5 rolls. Lion king - they messed up/forgot our order so they gave it to us in a to-go box, on the house. I tried 2 pieces when I got home. This roll was surprisingly decent. This would probably the only roll I'd order if I ever come back. So a star because it's yummy and we got it for free. We also got a banana ice cream with our check-in on yelp. This dessert was okay. The fried banana was squishy-soft. Their other tempuras weren't crunchy either. So 2 stars for this place: friendly service, free ice cream, & decent lion king.

Excellent service. Ordered 3 rolls. Two were great. The third, Lion King, had a strange chemical taste-like it was baked b4 they rinsed the oven cleaner out of the oven. Got it replaced with the rainbow roll, so 3 out of the 4 we tried were really good. They were also very gracious about us sending the roll back.

This is my third time having lunch here, and I must say I enjoy eating here very much. They have really great prices, and the food is pretty decent. The portions are huge for their prices. Every single time I've visited this restaurant I get awesome service from friendly servers. They refill your drinks often, as well as checking up on other needs you may have. I see myself coming back every so often when I'm craving sushi and want to stay in the area. The server in particular that I really appreciate is Tommy. He accidentally made a mistake on the bento box of my sister as she said salmon teriyaki and he thought teriyaki chicken. He apologized many times, adding that he would make it for her, and allow her to keep the teriyaki chicken. He also offered us a dessert. We were way stuffed, but said he would make it up next time. Keep up the good service.

Don't waste your time! As other reviewers noted, the food is bland and really low quality. Also, the menu offers "real" crab meat for an extra fee. I, of course, opted for the real crab, maybe people do not know the difference but I do. What I got was definitely not real crab.

came here with my brother for the first time and anyone that likes cheap sushi, then this is a place to go! I was debating on wether to give it 3 or 4 stars and the reason i gave it 4 was because of the price. The food is definitely not bad especially for the price but it wasn't amazing but what do you expect right? i think they make their money on the variety of alcohol that they possess. I think it's worth a try to see for yourself. Spicy tuna here was really good, the lion king was just okay. Note: order the spicy tuna! I don't really like spicy tuna but this one was really good!

We saw all the good ratings and wanted to try Angry Fish. We placed an order to go. Service on the phone was friendly as was the pick-up. They didn't have an item available and they promptly called back so we could change our order. They said it would take 20 minutes, but was a little longer - they offered tea, water and chair to sit while waiting. We ordered the 49er roll (they used lime instead of lemon), spicy tuna, dragon roll, halibut nigiri, angry fish roll and a sashimi salad - for $40. They now have a menu online. The price for their rolls is really competitive, and all pretty good, but the sashimi isn't as good. I was disappointed with the halibut, salmon, and tuna sashimi - all very thin pieces and not flavorful at all - it had no taste to it. Unfortunately, our sashimi salad also had something unexpected - a dark, thick black hair and it wasn't mine since I have long hair :( I was grossed out and couldn't eat any more of it.

Angry Fish sushi has $1 oyster nights!! 5 stars to how fresh they are. Hamachi Kama? The best I've ever had. At first I was like "wow this looks smaller than I'm used to. It's just a tail!" But once I tasted it I realized that it was definitely quality over quantity here. Each roll that I ordered was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Wait, there is ONE thing. The driveway is low so my car scraped on the way out! Rude. Otherwise it's great!

We ordered the following rolls: TKO, Sunshine, Dragon, and Titanic, and then the Unagi Don, the Bluefin toro, , Uni Sashimi, Sashimi Combo, Oysters with Quail eggs, uni, and ikura. Everything was fantastic, except they didn't have the Drunken Clams, like the last time we came. For dessert, we had green tea cheesecake, which was very creamy and I highly recommend it. Overall, this restaurant is fantastic and I would recommend it to sushi-lovers everywhere.

I have to give them one more star for being pretty awesome tonight. We received a top- notch service from the beginning to the end. Came here for the first time with my girlfriend and I have to say not bad! We ordered a teriyaki bento box and a Angry fish roll. The teriyaki bento box was pretty good the teriyaki chicken was really tender and grilled well, the salad that comes with it was fresh and tasty and it came with the usual rice, tempura and four California rolls. The only thing was that the bento box was a bit on the small side. The angry fish roll was also pretty good! But again it was on the small side. Overall Angry fish was a cool little place to eat good sushi for a pretty fair price. Also the restaurant is really modern and clean inside even tough the area around the restaurant looks a bit sketchy. The waiters are all really nice and welcoming. Tip: Check in with yelp and get a free desert for two. Got a free fried banana and green tea ice cream, it was good!

Eh. It was alright. Not worth $46 -Sunshine roll was definitely not worth $11. -Nigiri was skimpy. My bf spat out the hamachi bc part of it was chewy -Chicken Karage was yummy, juicy. -Miso had good flavor. -Philly roll: my fault for not reading their menu thoroughly. I'm used to having it served with salmon and avocado, not cucumber. I can't blame them, the Philly roll is traditionally made with cucumber. -Salad was served with a miso vinaigrette dressing...with parmesan cheese(I prefer the homemade creamy sesame dressing most places use). -Service was friendly :), refilled our drinks and asked how we were doing. Everyone said bye when we were leaving.

Here for the tasting. Sampling the menu items and so far it's great. The quality is definitely top notch. Sushi is fresh, cooked items all came out hot & tasty. The tempura batter is light & not oily. The beef teriyaki is delicious. A nice rib eye that came out medium rare. The atmosphere is cozy & upbeat. This is a place travel worthy from Alameda. Can't wait for the official opening!

I've never written a review, but this place made me wanna write one so bad! First of all, the service is excellent; the waitresses are very nice and polite. We were able to be seated within 5 mins for dinner. Secondly, food was fresh and delicious! We ordered sushi and curry rice. Dishes arrived to our table in a timely manner. My friends and I enjoyed the food so much. We also had the green tea cheesecake and the fried banana ice cream. I strongly recommend these dessert! It's super delicious! I'm gonna go back next time for sure :D

The service at this restaurant is horrible. Wasted 35 minutes waiting for the dude to come over to our table to ask if we are ready. Umm, let's see we have been sitting here for 35 minutes and I would think we are ready to order like 25 minutes ago. Instead of taking our order after telling him yes we are ready to order loud and clear, this dude turned around and started taking the table next to ours' order. WTF? Just because you and the next table speak the same language and know each other, it doesn't mean they get special treatment, right? Especially we came 10 minutes before your friends. We walked out of this restaurant. BTW, there was a fly in the water you tried to served us. This place is nasty and dirty. Do not eat here.

A friend & I were not really hungry, so I took him here telling him it was inexpensive & small potions. I have been here quite often, I was surprised to see the portions were very generous. We ordered a rainbow roll & tempura dragon roll because we might still be hungry. For not being hungry, we finished everything. The service & quality of food has this as a go to place. Most of the menu is under $10 & now bigger portions. It is located not in the best area, recommend street parking. Great service & great Sushi!

After reading all the glowing reviews of this place, and wanting, WANTING so badly for our little town to have a good sushi place - especially one that delivers - I went to Angry Fish for lunch today. Let's just say that the last thing you'd expect - or want - to smell when you walk into a Japanese restaurant is fast food, but that is precisely what happened, as the table to the left as soon as you walk in the door had McDonald's food and wrappers on it. There were three small children (belonging to staff?) who were eating there, and running around shrieking intermittently when not seated. They were doing this when we got there, and doing it when we left. The owners and staff seemed perfectly nice, but a little clueless. The food was, as others have mentioned, oddly uniform in taste - how can everything taste so similar? We had the Japanese spring rolls (probably my favorite because they tasted fresh), seaweed salad, hamachi, unagi, caterpillar roll, and a fried Philly roll (NOT my idea - yuck). There were different textures present, but again, the different dishes all seemed to wind up tasting oddly the same! Nothing stood out - certainly nothing was remotely memorable. Don't think we'll be back.

Ambience is really hip and geared towards more of a younger crowd. The employees are friendly and accommodating but I was not pleased by the 3 employees behind the sushi counter chatting up a storm in another language. I found it very unprofessional and uncomfortable sitting on the bar side. There's definitely an etiquette to the art of sushi in combination with customer service. The quality of the rice was poor, and seemed rushed as the sushi fell apart every time we reached for a piece and the taste was seemingly bland and far from fresh. I'm not a sushi snob but, okay- yes, I am but even for the average sushi goers, I'd have to say it was subpar. Let's just say the place compensates a lot for the food!

Had a living social voucher and came here with the fiance. It wasn't pack that day so we got seated pretty fast. I asked for tea and it was flavorless just like drinking warm water. We ordered 4 rolls and the portions was pretty big but it was a disappointment. FLAVORLESS!!! Will not be going back to this place! I still have another voucher left. Thinking about giving it away!

Great Sushi Place!!! I had been trying a lot of sushi place in Bay area for ten years. Only few sushi restaurant can come up in my head is good and decent price. Such as Alameda Kamakura, Yume, Oakland B-dama and Piedmont Geta. This Friday, I drove to San Leandro to explore new sushi place named "Angry Fish". This place is grand opening just 2 days, I am pretty sure there fish must be fresh as much as the other good quality restaurant. When I walked in, you can see the Angry Fish logo banner put it on top of the restaurant, it is very eye-catching. The sushi bar is just right in front of the door, I can see the sushi chef with good smiling face. However, I told the waitress I want to sit at the sushi bar. So that I can see how the sushi chef process the fish and make sushi. If you have been visit Japan, you might realize that the real sushi restaurant they don't serve rolls. Because the rolls come with a lot of sauce, you cannot try their real sashimi natural flavor. Therefore, I decided to order some sushi to give it a try. I ordered Toro (Fatty Tuna), Blue Fin tuna, Anikimo (Monkfish Liver), Halibut muscle, Amaebi (Sweet Shrimp), Hamachi (Amberjack or Buri), Uni ( sea urchin) and grill squid. The grill squid is not on the menu, you have to ask the sushi chef, they told me because they just grand open, forgot to finish the special order put it on the wall. If you guys have chance, please order the Halibut muscle, it was a bomb. The fish is so fresh and stunning. The chef told me they don't have this sushi often. I tried the Anikimo, the flavor is rich like foie gras. Toro is very fat and delicious, you don't even have a chance to chew, it will melted in your mouth. I only can say it's AWESOME!! The only thing I can complain is their service, because they are just grand opening, those waiter and waitress are very busy and forgot to give me a hot tea. When I decided to check out, they gave me a dessert from the house. It was a green tea cheesecake, it was so delicious and feel like home . I am surprise that I just paid only $60 for those fatty tuna and anikimo. If you looking for good sushi place with good quality food, this is the right place to go. For those reason, I give out ten out of ten.

Bland sushi and doesn't really taste fresh. We only ordered 2 orders of uni nigari but waitress made a mistake and placed 4 orders for us. Told her but she made us kept the other 2 orders saying it will go to waste if we dont take it. My husband is nice enough to keep it but he literally have ti stuff himself with all the uni nigari. Im pregnant so I couldn't help.

If you're trying to call in a to-go order, don't bother. The servers here won't answer. But if you decide to actually go to this place, and manage to find a spot in their tiny parking lot, then be prepared to wait an hour (or longer!) to get your food. Worst lunch decision ever.

    (1)
  • Shannon L.

Average sushi place. The quality of the fish on the nigiri is definitely superior to that of the rolls. However, they are thin in thickness and short in width. You're paying about $4 for a pair, minus the items that are market price. Most of the rolls have a California roll as a base with different fishes on top with a changing sauce. We also got the Hawaiian poke salad which at first disappointed me because I didn't see much tuna but it was hidden beneath the cucumbers. The sauce on this was savory and not too salty. A/c was blasting like a freezer in here.

Went there Sunday evening, first time, small dining area.Ordered 2 side salads, waitress brought only 1, ordered teriyaki chicken dinner waitress forgot the soup that comes with the dinner.Inexpensive price but small portions on the chicken teriyaki, and rice, sushi was good but don't know if I'll return.

Used a Groupon last night. the wait person did let others know that they would not apply to the market priced and sashimi items although the terms don't state that. Service was fast. They do not serve wine even though it says beer and wine served. Asked for a draft Kirin and they were out of that. We each had miso soup which had a lot of flavor and very nice portion size. My wife had the green salad which was oddly dressed. Not the usual miso sesame dressing. Would not re-order this. The pricing for the three was deal at $1.50 per. We had three rolls. One (I think it was the dragon roll) had thin slices of lemon that I think may have been too old. It left a sour/funky taste rather than a fresh citrus flavor. The rock and roll roll had both unagi and avacado. Very fresh avocado but both the unagi and the unagi sauce was a bit stingy. Service is 4 stars with the exception that I felt like we were being rushed through dinner.

for its price and quality - i think angry fish is worthy of five stars based on my dining experience. whenever someone recommends a place for me to try, the first thing i do of course is turn to yelp for reviews. a solid 4 star rating is always reassuring but everyone's taste buds are different so for me, what i read are the bad reviews to see if i really want to try the place. it seems that a lot of people gave this place bad reviews because the rolls are really "bland" i'm really curious as to what they mean by that because i personally can't imagine anyone wanting to eat rolls that are drenched in sauce. i had the sunshine roll and it was really good. the spicy sauce did not overpower the taste of the salmon or spicy tuna. the roll was a pretty good size as well. the salmon and hamachi sashimi we had was really fresh. if any diner is skeptical on what is fresh and what is not, just simply ask the sushi chef! i also tried the special oysters - raw oyster with quail egg and uni and ikura. i loveee this combo so my only comment would be - more uni please! the owner and employees are all super friendly. i live too far away for me to say angry fish is my go to place for sushi but i would recommend people in the area to give this place a try!

Again one of the best in the bay. Angry Fish has fun younger crowd that works there, and the owners are super friendly. They love to interact with the guests, and as for the sushi it is amazing. They have a very simple menu, and then a special menu for their rolls. Love the simplicity they bring to the food, and they treat it as an art to. I was eating at the sushi bar one night, and the next thing I see they bust out a flame thrower and was torching some of rolls on top. Tasted pretty good and was fun to watch!

ROACHES ALERT!!! I hate to do this because the service of one employee was excellent . However while waiting for our food we saw a roach coming from the sushi bar and we were disgusted and tried to ignore it since we had already placed our order and had been hungry and waiting for some time to be seated. As we began to eat a huge roach with wings started crawling up the kitchen / sushi bar walls and we were too embarrassed to say anything so we asked for our check and left our food. We rushed out because we have never seen something so disgusting in such a short time of being there. HEALTH DEPARTMENT NEED TO BETTER AND FULLY INSPECT THIS PLACE BEFORE SOMEONES FOOD IS INFESTED WITH ROACHES IF IT HASNT BEEN ALREADY. Disgusting and everyone should be AWARE!!!

They had really good sushi and for a reasonable price. It was a nice small restaurant and the servers were really nice and on top of their orders. Their Japanese spring rolls were delicious and it something I would go back for. Overall, a really good restaurant but just a head ups the parking is quite limited and cramped. Make sure to be there at a time when everyone is planning to go eat there because finding where to park will suck.

Tasty, fresh and inexpensive = A trip back for more! This is a late review - we were there about a week or so ago. My son has been here a few times and kept talking about it so finally I took him and his sister out to eat here for lunch and I will be back! I had the Bento box with rib eye steak teriyaki (yes rib eye steak), california roll, soup, tempura and a salad all for $7.95! I've never seen rib eye steak as an option before at a sushi restaurant before so I was all over that one. And aside from that where can you find a bento box at that value and that much flavor??!! We had appetizers, hand rolls, a specialty roll, 2 bento boxes, a donburi bowl and tea. The total plus tip came to just a little over $56! Are you kidding me - what a bargain for ME! I am normally not a nigiri person, but their fish is so fresh that I had no problem eating it. All the food was so tasty and their portions are a good size, in fact we all ended up taking food home. High recommended and I can't wait to go back!

Service is pretty good and quick. It was a nice environment. The rolls are not that expensive. Ordered the sunshine roll, tempura roll, spicy tuna roll and also the deep fried tuna roll x2. All came up to 37 bucks. Brought the food home to eat and it wasn't bad. I'll definitely try to come back here again.

Nice little spot with terrible parking in the back. Cars are almost unable to get out. Did quite a bit of 3-point turns in hopes that I didn't hit the next car. Very nice wait staff. Plenty of items to choose from. Wanted to try new things so went for the Ikura (salted salmon eggs) and Uni (sea urchin). Edible, but can't say I'll order either one again. Shared the Baked Scallop Roll (my usual, but scallop balls were small) and the special Sunshine Roll, which was pretty good.

There are no words to explain this restaurant except friendly service and decadent food! I just had this last night with my family - only my third time eating here. The local hype was so much my family just had to eat here once more! I (myself) ordered the Baked Scallop Roll and a Chicken Katsu - Gyoza dinner special. My sister ordered the Tempura Dragon, 49er, and Rainbow Rolls. My father ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll. The Baked Scallop Roll; well, you gotta use a spoon because it is HOT, but it is wonderful! The rice is hot, and the sauce that tops the roll melts in your mouth. The Chicken Katsu and Gyoza were better, but when you eat at a sushi restaurant, you eat sushi! The Tempura Dragon Roll was splendid! The tempura was hot and crunchy, the avocado was firm, yet soft. And the roll itself? Presented to perfection, and made me hungry! The 49er Roll was delightful; the crab, although fine textured, was actually REAL CRAB! The lemons on top added a nice tangy flavor to it, while keeping that real crab sushi flavor. The Rainbow Roll was decadent. Although it used imitation crab meat, it was still very delicious. The Spicy Tuna Roll was the best roll (and will be for a long time) that night. The tuna was very spicy (that's a good thing!) and the tuna - chewy and flavorful. Overall, the food was excellent, and a definite come-back! Our waiter, Sean, was extremely friendly. He greeted us and treated our table like family. He gave time, and unlike many waiters, he replies with a solid "You're welcome!" after pouring tea, water, or serving a dish and us saying, "Thank you!" Just an atmosphere I enjoy. Another point for me and my family to come back! And, thank you, Sean! Overall, this is one of the best, if not THE BEST, sushi restaurants in the Bay Area. Great service and management, excellent food, and deep ties to the community. There is also a movie theatre and a shopping center very close by, so go there after a dinner to continue a date or family night!

Fresh Sashimi - YES!, Good Sushi - YES!, Busy - YES!! Stopped in on a Sunday evening to give this spot a try and it was a madhouse. We sat at the sushi bar and was surprised to be served quickly considering the crowd. Everything we tried was good. Note: if you want real crab, be sure to ask for it and there is an extra charge (but well worth it). I came here for lunch and found it much less hectic and really enjoyed the meal. I feel a bit guilty about driving by my former fav sushi spot to get here but this newcomer will give them a run for their money.

I sat at the sushi bar. Waitress was a little rushy. I really dislike when anyone reachs over me. I ordered the cucumber with octopus vinaigrette. Was okay. I also ordered the Raider roll and Spicy Mango Roll. Big portion and great taste. Note: Bar was a little dirty. It can be a little uncomfortable. Happy eating.......

Cute place with nice interior and comfy chairs. Came with Groupon lunch takeout deal. Got 2 different bento boxes plus hamachi nigiri. Service is very friendly. Food? Unfortunately not so good. Sushi rice is mushy. Curry sauce is liquidy with nothing in it.... I mean no carrots, potatoes nor meat. Gyoza is probably a frozen pre-made kind. Tonkatsu is thin but OK. Tempura was most decent of all. Bummer... Another bad Japanese food.

I have always believed in try everything.. and it is always a hit or miss.. this was definitely a miss.. and wished i really did not stumble on this place at all... (I was hooongrrryyy)... I naturally like to eat sushi at least once a week or every other week. so i stumbled on to Angry fish, thought i would try a new place... as soon as I got there drove into the parking lot in the back was a little scared and ire. Walked to the door way and a waitress was talking to a guy completely blocking the door she sees us standing there waiting for a good while and still continue to talk. "hello move.. so your clients do not have to stand in the cold to try to get in." As I walked into the restaurant first thing I had noticed was all the tables were not clean... dishes pilled on top of tables and nothing was really clean.. not a very good sight to see from the client point of view. So as soon as one of the waitress sat us down at the bar and got a good look at the sashimi and it was literally very messy in the view and not to mention the Uni was not fresh at all.. I had asked the waiter for two cups of tea..... waited till possibly once all the food had arrived was when we got our settings, plates and water... our food sat there for a while... We had ordered two rows.. and two "special" oysters. I was not impressed at all the Rainbow roll was basically three types of fish very thinly sliced over a California row.. and the 49er roll did not have fresh salmon. NOT TO MENTION WHEN PREPPING THE "SPECIAL" OYSTER, I ASKED FOR THEM TO USE A NEW BOX OF UNI THAT WAS FRESH AND NOT THE ONE THAT WAS SITTING IN THEIR DISPLAY FRIDGE AT THE BAR. SO THE GIRL THAT WAS MAKING IT SAID SURE.. BUT WAIT FOR IT BEFORE SHE HAD GOT THE NEW BOX OF UNI SHE RINSED OFF THE OLD UNI FROM THE ONE OYSTER SHE HAD PREPPED IN THE SINK ON THE CORNER AND SERVED IT TO US NEWLY PREPPED... :D *AWESOME* RIGHT!?!?! (blehhhh...) we were in and out of the place in 15 minutes... still no tea.... :( We felt very rushed when it came to ordering. We wanted to look at the menu more and had also a few questions to ask regarding what they could have recommended and there was not much of an answer or a good description.. just simply we have hamachi do you want that.? Service was very confusing.. there was no team work at all when it came to busting tables and setting orders or tables or even serving.. there was no game plan as to how to help make your customers feel like they were welcomed or feel like they were eating at a clean environment. I ended up driving to Chilli's to have dinner... oh boy am I stuffed from Chilli's.

Since they've opened, Angry Fish has become my go-to sushi spot. It's very close to home, and they're open pretty late. (They also do take out and delivery, which is great! The wait time isn't ridiculously long either; I've never waited longer than an hour, even when they were busy.) The chefs are great, and they have a wide variety of rolls, with the Snow White being my favorite. The prices are almost a steal for the quality of food that you get. The only downside is that they do get quite busy on evenings and weekends, and the noise level gets a bit much since it is a small restaurant. Parking can sometimes be an issue since the lot is kind of small, but they also have parking in the front that nobody ever uses since it's really awkward and you have to drive over part of the sidewalk to get in the spots. Overall a great little restaurant- I haven't had any issues with the staff so far, and the food has always been consistent.

I really liked this place. It's small but good. The sushi tasted fresh, was reasonably priced, and we had a good time. I don't think that their dinner menu is any different in price than lunch....but it wasn't bad for what you get. We are definitely going back! If you are concerned about the parking, head to the back of the building and make it easy on yourself.

Ate here twice to date.... Great service, nice atmosphere and best of all FRESHEST FISH AROUND. Everything I tried was amazing. Angry bomb is hoot. Small little shack, not the best area might get mugged late night but food oh yeah. Priced ok get in for lunch or you will be paying like you are at an upscale place without the feel. It's still a great sushi place Philly roll also goes

I enjoyed my sushi here at the Angry Fish Sushi. The sushi seemed fresh and on the spot. I ordered the Titanic roll, Spicy Mango, Chirashi, and the Miso Soup. The Titanic was very good, it had the delicious crunch I always love in sushi with something deep fried in it. The Spicy Mango was also done very well, it has a sweet but savory mix to its roll. The Chirashi was also very good, I didn't expect it to be fresh but it was pretty fresh! Asides from the ridiculous Angry Fish sign, this place is good. I will come here again when I'm around this location. Service was good and food was good.

I have tried some rolls here and wasn't very fond of them, but not sure if that is a biased critique of their rolls in particular as I am more into nigiri and sashimi lately, which on the other hand they do very well. I have had the hotate, sake, ikura, and uni nigiri which have all been very fresh and melt in your mouth every time its ordered. The regular priced oysters are great, but if you are going for $1 oyster Mondays, please be advised that they are much smaller than the regular priced oysters and you will need at least 20 per person to feel satisfied, although they are worth it as they are still good. Had the beef teriyaki and $5 oysters as well, all good choices. Have been here about 3 times already and will come back, but can't say they have moved to the top of my sushi place list maybe like 3rd or 4th on the list.

Tonight I was craving sushi, like always. Decided to try out rock n roll sushi in San Leandro. It was way too packed in there and they didn't even acknowledge us at the door, so we ended up coming to angry fish. The service here is probably one of the best I've had at a restaurant. The waitresses/waiters are super nice and always checking up on you. Once we got in we were greeted and seated, the waitress told us it was $1 oyster night. So we decided to give it a try, only a dollar why not right. Turned out they to be delicious. For sushi I decided to go with the lion king roll and 49er roll. I also ordered the steak teriyaki combo, because just sushi never fills me up. The 49er roll we ordered with the imitation crab instead of real crab. At first we got the wrong order but the waitress was super nice about it, she apologized and had it fixed for us. The 49er is probably my favorite roll here. As for the lion king roll, I've had waaay better. It's not creamy enough for me here. They don't really have a wide selection of rolls as oppose to other places. My combo plate, it was pretty skimpy. Not enough meat at all, came with like 5 strips of small rib eye steak. Mostly fat on that meat too. Although it did come with this tasty fried potato thing. Not sure what it was called but it was delicious, better than the combo itself lol. The service here is so good that I hate to bash their food, but I'm just being honest. There's a lot of other places in San Leandro with better sushi. This was actually my third option tonight because 'fat fish' was closed until Thursday for some reason.

It's the quality of service that keeps us coming back! Each visit they treat my 5 year old like a VIP! He will pick this restaurant over any type of food in San Leandro! I love the choices of special rolls like Snow White, Sunshine, and the Titanic.
